Climate Change is hurting the Earth faster than we can handle
🙂
As people, we are unable to keep up with the Earth and how rapid climate change is becoming. The dangers of climate change are enlarging faster and soon nature and humankind will be damaged beyond our power. Though there are so many people on this earth, one may think that a small community pushing for change may not help, but slowly influencing others to make small changes in their daily lives can not only help ourselves, but our community, nature, and our planet. As a small scale community, we have many options that could potentially help save our planet such as using less gas, growing food locally, or even using less plastic. Gas emission causes physical problems, as well as problems within our planet such as extreme weather and more air pollution

Childcare Affordability
Krazy About Kidz
In today's society, it is a necessity for parents to work outside of the home. In order for this to happen, parents need quality childcare. Things like state licensing regulations, teacher education requirements, materials, food, supplies, and a multitude of other costs and regulations greatly affects the amount of tuition a childcare center must charge parents.

Issues of Isolation and Loneliness: Among Foster and Non-Foster youth Ages 11- to 14-year-old
Back To Basics
California’s children do not seem to get enough attention. Instead, we do away with extracurricular activities and responsible guidance by pacifying them and us with electronic devices. New technologies have made their place in public schools. Whether children are perfectly content being disconnected from human connections has become a blurry distinction. So, our team has identified two areas of focus as immediate local crises. First, it starts at home, these kids are not being taught life skills at home. Second, the current state of our public education system has eroded and compounded the situation which significantly contributes to this educational erosion. As a result, some of these youth become disconnected, alienated, neglected, and homeless from the fallout of that destruction. Loneliness is universal. However, the youth left to fend for themselves from adolescence through young adulthood are poster children for charity and the epitome of neglect.

Social Media and Its Harmful Impacts on Mental Health, Communication, and Politics
Team Eudaimonia
Social Media has changed the dynamics of society ever since it began to be used by the masses in the 21st century. With such a sudden change in how we communicate, share things, watch and make content, and portray ourselves to others, it has had many side effects, both good and bad. The negative impacts of social media include ones that are overall harmful for our mental health. Social media has impacted almost every aspect of society. The effects we see the most everyday are how it has affected our communication and politics, which have also been negatively impacted.

Student Access to Affordable Housing and Associated Resources in the Valley

There is a lack of affordable housing for college students in Stanislaus, Tuolumne, and San Joaquin counties. Access to safe, well-maintained living conditions is necessary in order to succeed in one’s educational pursuits.

Outdated Educational System and Neglected Foster Youth
Back to Basics
Problem: Issues of Isolation and Loneliness: An Address of Education and Foster Youth California’s children do not seem to get enough attention. Instead, we do away with extracurricular activities and responsible guidance by pacifying them and us with electronic devices. New technologies have made their place in public schools; however, at which point do we ask ourselves, are we over-pacifying? Whether children are perfectly content being disconnected from human connections has become a blurry distinction. So, our team has identified two areas of focus as immediate local crises. First, the current state of our public education system has eroded and to compound the situation, the California foster system significantly contributes to this educational erosion. As a result, some of these youth become disconnected, alienated, and homeless from the fallout of that destruction. Loneliness is universal. However, foster children left to fend for themselves from adolescence through young adulthood are poster children for charity and the epitome of neglect. In California, according to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, 18% of 19-year-olds and 25% of 21-year-olds experienced homelessness. Throughout the decade, California held the highest number of children entering foster care, ranging from 50,737 as of 2020. Ideally, areas where foster adolescents and “aging out” foster youth under 21 can congregate to learn from other MJC students, staff, and guest speakers concerning a back-to-basics approach to basic living needs, and especially human connection. Our college community must work together to create a haven, or an operational prototype of safety, for the community’s isolated and disadvantaged foster youth to demonstrate that needs are met by learning basics for living- not just surviving. Although loneliness is universal, a nationwide movement can see the effects of removing isolation from this crucial age through community support and refreshing teaching techniques. Vagrants, derelicts, and transients all fall under the soiled umbrella of homelessness. Without life skills, dire implications loom for “aging out” foster youth. A shift in conversation to a new narrative concerning innovative approaches is worth connecting people through culture and friendship because it eventually yields positive results. Thus, we believe foster youth vagrancy can be eliminated or significantly reduced. Moreover, some foster children have physical or intellectual disabilities, further limiting their progress and creating viable resources suited to their needs. The individuals who would most benefit from this proposed outreach are those who feel isolated or neglected by their loved ones and have grown distant from their communities. In conjunction with the faculty and students of Modesto Junior College, our goal is to create a haven on our campus to educate and help navigate issues concerning self-care, public education, post-foster care, life skills for latchkey youth, and guidance on recovery beyond substance abuse.

Fighting climate change
The change
First of all, we will specifically be discussing the problem which it definitely is climate change in a for all intents and purposes major way. Climate change definitely is a problem to our community because it can damage our climate to change actually is an definitely extreme way. Climate change can damage our community and people in a extreme way. Peoples lives can essentially start to change in a drastically way for all intents and purposes due to this pretty extreme problem, which definitely shows that peoples lives can particularly start to change in a drastically way for all intents and purposes due to this extreme problem in a big way.

Safety In our community
S&J
As many people have heard there is a serial killer on the loose In the 209 area. Which Is making it even more dangerous to be out at night, especially girls. Girls are an easier target for anyone. The serial killer has been targeting anyone who he sees walking alone at night so it is best to try and avoid going out alone late at night.

DUI's and College Students
solve safe
How can we lower the amount of college students driving drunk and losing their lives? College students between the ages of 21-24 have the highest fatality rate of drunk driving car accidents. It is estimated that 2,000 college students between the ages of 18 to 24 die each year from alcohol-related car accidents, and an estimated 120,000 victims are treated in emergency rooms across the country. Many restrictions and penalties are already enforced to lower these accidents, it is still left up to each individual student to make safe driving decisions.

Limitations in the Pursuit of Education
Community Catalyst
Although there is a significant body of research pointing to service learning as a High Impact Practice, HIP, (Kuh, 2008) for college students, there has never been a formal, institutionalized Service Learning Program at Modesto Junior College. A limited number of faculty members in diverse subject areas have always used volunteer service learning activities in various forms in their courses; however, neither the faculty members nor their students have benefitted from any formal or organized Service Learning Program resource tools to support this innovative, experiential approach to contextualized teaching and learning.

Getting Personal Between Healthcare Employees
Creating Community For Healthcare Workers
Healthcare is understaffed, and they don't have time for their emotional selves, let alone take the time to get to know who they are working with. Healthcare professionals are great people who take care of sick and hurt people. Healthcare professionals also take care of healthy people for preventative maintenance so they don't become sicker than usual. They work long days and hours and like to help or make someone feel better. They are problem solvers and solution finders. When most people are running away from a burning fire or problematic situations, they are running into them without any fear or second thoughts, just wanting to help and save anyone they can. In most cases, healthcare professionals do not have the time for themselves or downtime to get to know who they are working with. In most cases, healthcare professionals do not have the time for themselves or downtime to get to know who they are working with, which can affect healthcare workers and the ones they are handling.

Teaching gender equity in grades K-6
Team B
When our team had a discussion on what issues women faced in the Central Valley, we pinned pointed that the root of these issues are gender roles. This usually begins when we are children. As children we observe and absorb gender roles through everyday interactions, rhetoric taught to us in our homes/schools, and any media outlet we have access to. Many times, it is taught unconsciously, and we want to educate our youth and adults about this issue. As we did further research we noticed how gender roles can impact not only a child's perception of other people but as well as their perception of themselves. We learned that when children are not allowed to express themselves in the way they choose it can cause low confidence, depression and in the worst case sometimes suicide. The issue of gender roles also affects us in the long run as a society. We decided to focus on this issue as it would educate generations to come and inspire children to be themselves and be accepting of everyone.

Addressing High Rates of Assault in Modesto
Addressing Modesto Statistics
Modesto has oddly high amount of sexual assault cases compared to the national average, despite being safe in other regards. Over the past few years, cases have rose. A few cases have been documented in which sexual assault occurred at a local school during school hours. A lot of citizens are not aware of this issue.

Gender Inequality in the Workplace
Team Starbies
Gender Inequality in the workplace is a problem that affects women in a plethora of ways. It can be seen in wage discrepancy and the lack of opportunities for women, amongst other nuanced ways. This problem specifically targets women, and puts them at a disadvantage to their male counterparts, making it harder for them to reach equal success in their field.

Youth Mental Health
The Outlet
The pressures and changes of today’s social landscape, academia, employment, and home life have contributed to the rise of mental health problems amongst our fellow youth. Social media in particular has exacerbated these issues. Those who will soon be running society as young adults are pessimistic about a future which seems to promise only more instability and hardship. Young adults burying their emotions severely affects their mental health, and this can especially be seen during the Covid-19 pandemic. When lockdowns were in place, students were shut out from communication with other students, adults, and resources available for young adults who needed help.

A Difficult Path to Higher Education for Promising Youth in West Modesto
Legacy Alliance Outreach/MJC After-School Project
Southwest Modesto, the area and neighborhood around Mark Twain Junior High School, has the highest crime rate in Modesto according to local law enforcement analytics. It is also an area high in poverty with the annual median income at $26,000 with nearly 100% of students in the area eligible for free- or reduced price lunches. The average total days missed due to out-of-school suspensions in this school is almost 4 times higher in comparison to the district average according to "Miseducation" by ProPublica. This school also is in the top 10% for having the most inexperienced teachers according to ProPublica. School violence, vandalism, and low academic achievement are often-cited problems in area schools by both teachers and students. Given this environment, it is difficult for many youth to envision a life beyond their local neighborhood and school that involves higher education.

Disjointed and Disorganized Artistic Communities
Artists' Collective Movement
Over the past year we have noticed a viscous problem affecting our town's artistic community. That problem is a lack of organization, a lack of direction. Go into a small town, we will be using Merced, CA as our main example, and nine times out of ten you will find that artists are lonely, unfulfilled, depressed and looking for more. But the raw material for what they need is right around them. Someone, or something just has to be in place to cultivate it. There is no place that is devoid of creative potential, in fact I'd argue these disjointed communities are brimming with it, but without any mutual support it feels there is nowhere to aim it, and it goes dormant. That's what we're aiming to address here.

Domestic Violence
Samantha & Yarely’s Team / Peace Keepers
Domestic violence is a problem that such a large amount of people face at one time or another. Some people think that only women can face domestic violence from a man but the truth is, men can face domestic violence from women and even other men. A lot of times in our childhood we witness domestic violence from people who say they love each other so when we see it happening to ourselves, we truly believe that it’s the way that people show love. Others of us grow up witnessing domestic violence and it negatively affects us so much that it’s the only way we know how to express ourselves because we have never been shown peace or love; all we know is violence.
The Lack Fair Trade In the Coffee Industry
The Highlanders
The biggest problem within the coffee industry is the cheap prices big companies acquire the coffee for only to sell it triple its cost. The problem that this creates has multiple consequences for the coffee growers and workers as they make little to no revenue. This is a problem because most of the time coffee farm owners cannot pay their workers a good wage that is substantial or that covers their basic needs. The lack of fair coffee prices then leads to low wages that lead to poor quality living in developing countries that are producing commodity goods. This affects a lot of people because it deprives economic growth and because they have no proper wages, they cannot overcome their situation because there is no system that supports them.

Lack of Community Space for Women
Team P.E.T.A.L
We want to focus on the lack of accessible information networks for women and create a community space that can host inclusive community events for all women.

Stray Cats
Team Stray Control
The summary of this problem is that stray animals are causing a multitude of problems within the community. They are causing a backup within the veterinary clinics and the animal shelters. It is also causing a problem because the overpopulation of strays causes damage to local ecosystems and spreads diseases to other animals such as household animals. This involves cats and dogs that people have adopted and take care of.

homelessness and panhandling
single student
One of the biggest problems in Stanislaus County is homelessness and panhandlers. According to Wikipedia homeless is defined as also known as a state of being unhoused or unsheltered – is the condition of lacking stable, safe, and adequate housing. The definition of panhandling according to google is defined as: to stop people on the street and ask for food or money. In Stanislaus County there are approximately 2000 homeless individuals living between Modesto and Turlock. Among those numbers there are approximately 250 children that are living on the streets. Most homeless individuals turn into panhandlers

Homelessness
Natalie(homelessness)
This problem is about the issue that we have with homelessness in Modesto. Whenever I am driving anywhere near Modesto I always see a person on the side of the road or at a corner of a traffic light. I even have an uncle who is certainly homeless, which is why I decided to talk about this problem. I also thought that this wouldn't only help with Modesto homelessness but everywhere else too. I want to create and find solutions to better help with the problem of homelessness that can bring many benefits to our society. Furthermore, providing great outcomes for people struggling with this issue can bring us all together as a community. With that being said we are going through ways we can find solutions to better improve homelessness and our society, seeing the benefits of this outcome, and the end result of resolving this issue.

How social media has robbed us of self love
How to learn to love yourself more than your social media
We believe that there is a reason why our generation is so unhappy. As a society, we are constantly told to be the better versions of ourselves. Promotions for supplements, weird exercise equipment and diets are constantly shoved in our faces on social media. Social media has warped our idea of what a healthy lifestyle looks like. We are trained to constantly keep moving and keep working and to put our inner peace and health on the back burner. As a result, we become disconnected with ourselves. We take advantage of our bodies and learn to hate what we look like.

Domestic Violence and Women Abuse everywhere.
Futures Without Violence
Unfortunately, intimate partner violence is one of the most common forms of violence against women and includes physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and controlling behaviors by an intimate partner. Although women can be violent in relationships with men, often in self-defense, and violence sometimes occurs in same-sex partnerships, the most common perpetrators of violence against women are male intimate partners or ex-partners. By contrast, men are far more likely to experience violent acts by strangers or acquaintances than by someone close to them.

Human Trafficking
Seraphim
Human trafficking is the second largest and fastest growing criminal industry in the world with as many as 27 million individuals living in slave-like conditions throughout the world. - Human trafficking is a human rights issue; it’s morally and ethically wrong. According to the Polaris Project, there are currently 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally. Of those 40 million, 25% of them are children. Some of the most vulnerable populations for trafficking in the United States include American Indian/Alaska Native communities, lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender-questioning individuals, individuals with disabilities, undocumented migrants, runaway and homeless youth, temporary guest-workers and low-income individuals. The vast majority of victims are women and girls. Often considered a problem of the past, slavery is very much alive today. While we usually associate trafficking with sexual exploitation, it can also come in the form of forced labor.

In need of mobile mental health services

Individuals with mental health and substance use issues are not able to go out and access services, due to multiple factors, such as mental stability, transportation, hygiene and lack or medical insurance.

Homelessness in California
Hunter's Team
There is a surplus of Homeless in California. When you go to Downtown Sacramento, you cannot go a single block without seeing homeless encampments of thousands of people. When you drive over overpasses right beneath you are cities of tents and all the city has done is give them porta potties to go to the bathroom in. The homeless problem is so bad that the Sacramento police do not even respond to a homelessness call unless it is violent. The city has done nothing, they tried to clear out a whole block but the whole encampment just picked their stuff up and moved across the street.

Tuolumne County Houseless Persons
Helping Hands
The County recently shut down three camps that were previously inhabited by the majority of the houseless persons population. As a result, with no other resources in place, these people were left with little option on their living situation. The county argued that the camps were risks to public health and safety, however they failed to provide further safety to these persons.

Our Collective Inability to Get Along with Others
The Baby Groot
People have a strange inability to get along and maintain a good bond with each other. Countries cannot seem to get along either, which explains the multiple wars. People strive for something that they hopelessly need, feel jealousy or sometimes an unexplained hatred that is totally unnecessary.

Forest Fires
Ali
Forest fires in California ultimately lead to the detriment of thousands of ecosystems throughout the state. In fact, the implications of forest fires transcend the local regions of California, they have consequences that affect the entire nation: mass displacement, residential destruction, and catastrophic carbon dioxide emissions demand our attention.

Forest Fires in California
Ali
Forest fires destroy ecosystems, pollute the atmosphere, and cause mass displacement. This is a major issue about California that demands our attention. Forest fires occur for a variety of reasons, most of which are due to human activity and societal carelessness. Equipment malfunctions, the burning of debris, and unsupervised campfires are common causes of forest fires throughout California. 85% of the forest fires in California are due to human error or even intentional destruction through the crime of arson. Alternatively, there are natural causes of forest fires, such as lightning.

Unsafe school transportation and dropoffs
ByeByeBye
There is a lack of safe routes to school for children. We need dedicated routes for children walking to school that are monitored either by live monitored cameras and by trustworthy people. There is also a need for safe drop off areas at a number of local schools as well as better flows of traffic.

Water Issue
Team Aqua
My community Dos Palos has been having an ongoing issue regarding water. There is currently building moratorium in Dos Palos and South Dos Palos. The issue is caused by the entire water tower and system being outdated since the manmade water system was built when the town was initially started. The city has shut the water off for the entire town without notice or updates on several occasions, leaving residents with no other source of water for the meantime or solution to meet a survival need.

Our Collective Inability to Get Along with Others
Can’t We Just All Get Along?
To start off, there's is tons of reason why people do not get along. Some of those reasons are poor communication skills, faulty thinking, and selfishness. These are just a quick few at the top of my head. This can also apply to people dealing with being a different gender, race , sexual orientation, or even being a more above tier such as having a higher paying job or better lifestyle. Groups such as religion and politics also face this problem as well.

The lack of Agricultural Education in our Communities.
Agricultural Advocates for Education
When people go to the grocery store, they buy their groceries and go home to eat them without fully understanding or caring where this food came from. Many Americans are this way because they were not trained to think about where their food is coming from. If most people had taken just one agricultural class during their educational career, more people would wonder where the food was grown, how it was harvested, how long it took from being planted to the store, the process of packing and cooling, and the list can go on. Going through grade school, we all are required to take the typical classes: math, science, history, English, etc. Agricultural education (sometimes referred to as ag ed) is typically overlooked as a required course though. To keep the world running smoothly, agricultural education is beneficial to the population. As urbanization has occurred more and more, the disconnect between agricultural producers and the general public has grown immensely.

Pharrell Williams is a graduate of Princess Anne High School and has always been a large supporter of his hometown of Virginia Beach, VA until the tragic murder of his cousin, Donovan Lynch. Donovan was a mere 25-years-old when he was shot and killed by a VBPD officer at the Oceanfront while they were responding to an active shooter call for a black male. Mistaking Donovan for the active shooter, without turning on his body cam or identifying himself, Officer Solomon Simmons III fatally shot Donovan and did not perform any emergency services while Donovan died in front of him. The city of Virginia Beach did not accept responsibility for Donovan's death and instead blamed his own demeanor, losing the support of Pharrell Williams.

Damaged Goods
Sister Power
Inequality or discrimination in the workplace is a big problem. Many workers are losing their jobs due to suffering a permanent disability after a work injury. When the injured worker is able to return to his normal occupation but has permanent restrictions, he will require that his job be modified. This is called an accommodation. The accommodation can be as simple as providing a worker who has lifting and carrying restrictions with a cart to assist him with the lifting and carrying. Instead of exploring potential accommodations, employers label the employee "damaged goods." The employer denies the employee the opportunity to return to work, leaving him jobless. The loss of employment causes financial and mental hardship on the worker and his family. This hardship affects our community when the unemployment rates rise and when the employee is unable to contribute financially to his community.

Tossed-out Trash
EarthDay
There is a continuing and growing problem of trash just being tossed out into the street. Drive down the highway or freeway, and you can see it as clear as day: plastic fast food cups, trash bags, cigarette butts, you name it. Or go to a local lake or river, and you can see the amount of garbage that's been tossed into those as well. As the years go on, more and more trash just continues to pile up in places where they don't belong.

California’s Persistent Problem

Our Changing Climate and Local Impacts
Problem solvers
We are looking for what causing climate change in our community and how can we solve it or at least slow it down. We will look at every direction in order to try to deal with this problem in every way possible. We believe that climate change is still a problem to everyone and if we work together, if could find the solution to this problem.

California Droughts
The Mora's
One of the most significant concerns that mankind is now confronted with is climate change. Both the climatic conditions on the surface of the planet and the chemical composition of the atmosphere have been changed as a direct consequence of human activity. This has resulted in a rise in temperatures that are considered to be worldwide averages as well as increasing sea levels, both of which are having a substantial impact on the climate. These shifts have had a significant negative impact on a great number of nations, and as a direct consequence, natural catastrophes have driven millions of people from their homes. As a result, it is essential that we start taking action right once in order to stop the further development of this problem.

Hidden Homelessness
Team Bayanihan
They can be couch surfing, living in other houses’ basements or garages, or someone’s yard on recreational vehicles. People in this predicament are the hidden homeless. They are likely not listed as homeless but still rely on social and financial support to get by. This population does not access housing and other support from the government.

Lend a helping hand
We all matter
The problem that are team feels this town needs the most home on it the ability to help with homelessness. We do not feel it is fair to live our lives day to day seeing people beg for money and or food on the streets. Some might say that it is not their problem so why make a fuss about it. We say it effects everyone whether we ignore the matter or not. A example would be someone waiting outside a grocery store while you come out asking for any spare change to eat while you have a full grocery cart. I know for myself I feel guilty without even having a reason to be. Helping one another isn't a burden it's a chance to be more than just a ordinary civilian.

Access to Safe and Free Reproductive Healthcare
Team Pink
In the wake of the Supreme Court's new restrictions barring the rulings of Roe v. Wade from protecting women's right to healthcare, we believe that the only way to fight the ignorance surrounding this decision is through education. We believe that through educating the youth about reproductive healthcare, including the actual process of abortion, free from stigma and religious/cultural influences, we can allow for a future in which women are protected from laws governing their bodies and overall welfare.

Illegal Dumping in Stanislaus County
Team Clean
There is a surplus of illegal dumping across Stanislaus County. Every day, residents take their unwanted trash out to farms, lakes, and other moving bodies of water. To make matters worse, this isn’t always any regular trash. Sure, there are your typical trash bags and small bits of trash, but illegal dumping isn’t just littering. Illegal dumping is related to the larger pieces of trash, like unwanted furniture and household appliances… stuff that should be taken to the dump instead. They dump this trash in any place that is of the utmost convenience and the least coverage by the authorities. This way, the trash that is dropped is more difficult to trace, especially if there are no direct pieces of evidence that might show who did it.

Gun Violence
An average chick’s opinion
We want to address a concern facing all of the community- over the past few years gun violence has continued to increase across the United States despite increased gun control. As California has implemented some of the strictest laws, we are finally able to see the benefits of these laws. We would like to see other states follow suit. Californians 25% Less Likely to Die in a Mass Shooting From the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC): “Compared to citizens of other states, Californians are about 25% less likely to die in mass shootings. Between 2019 and 2021, the state’s annual mass shooting homicide rate of 1.4 per one million people was lower than the national average of 1.9.”-Office of Governor Gavin Newsome-

Our World by the Hands of Fossil Fuels
Pollution Solution
Throughout history, fossil fuels have added harmful toxins to our land, water, and all around our surrounding air. The following problems help promote the instability of our Earth: carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxide. As an alternative, the following solutions will make a positive impact on the environment: wind, geothermal, solar energy, hydropower, and biomass. This puts future generations at more of a health risk, while still taking from our Earth without replenishing it in effect crippling our Earth's atmosphere. Burning fossil fuels is one of the most harmful pollutants we produce, so it is in our best interest to begin finding better alternatives to reverse the damage already done.

Liquid Gold- Water Drought
Water Track
Since 2011, California has been trapped in a drought, and the effects are still seen, especially here in the Central Valley. Our farmers and community must limit how much water can be used, be given fines for using too much water, and are only allowed to water our lawns on certain days. This has led to hardship for families who are struggling to make ends meet and has placed Central Valley farmers in an unsteady position. However, Southern California has no problem using all of the Central Valley's water to make their lawns and gardens green or to keep their water parks running 24/7. They refuse to find alternative solutions, preferring to keep hoarding our water.

Hate Among the People
Lessley Ladies Solving Hate
We see a lot of hate in our community, especially among young children. I see generational hate on a daily basis or hate that has been passed from parents or grandparents onto their children. It is a giant issue. It is not only bad for the people being hated on, but it is also bad for those who carry such hate. All of this disagreeing and fighting causes strife and anxiety. It is not good for anyone's health.

Social Inequalities
POC Unite
Social inequalities exist in our justice system this introduces the problem of racial inequalities regarding police brutality. In a society where diversity is present in all parts of the world, it is not always practiced. Different races, predominantly minorities are targeted for unfair and cruel treatment. Ranging from hate speech to violence in a law system that claims to be protecting communities moreover have taken advantage of the power they are given. This ongoing issue has existed for decades with a rising percentage in racial profiling by law enforcements.

A huge problem our healthcare community faces has to do with an overload of patients for just a single nurse. This creates a problem where it is unsafe for the nurse and for the patient. A nurse cannot give professional and safe care to all the patients in such little time, and the patient cannot have rapid assistance, if needed.

Recurring Water Issues
Hudro
Due to the lack of rain we have been getting in the valley throughout the past years is affecting our water supply today. Our drought also continues to be a recurring issue due to the exploitation of our water usage. The U.S. has been in a two year drought since 2020-2021 and this year it will get exceptionally worse. The cumulative impact from the third year of drought is going to be much more difficult to manage.

Identify a Problem and Propose a Solution
Team Adventurers
Within the last two years, we had gone from 1,857 people and jumped up to 2,927 people. then the tally of homeless people went down to 1,070 less than counted last year. Our biggest problem in the county is not enough volunteers to help out the homeless people in the homeless shelters. So it turns homeless people away with not enough help they have to limit the homeless count inside the shelter. Mostly all the shelters are overbooked with homeless people the shelters can only keep people for one to two days max then they have to seek shelter someplace else. The solution to the problem is for us as a community to help the homeless population get cleaned up and help them get back on their feet by promoting them to get a job. Most importantly we as a community need to help the ones on drugs get sobered up and clean. Those who are homeless due to pricing being so high, the people can't afford a home and some are on a waiting list with Section 8 and HUD to help get into their own homes.

Global Warming
Team DLC
Climate Change is a major problem. However, it does not just affect us as a community, it affects our entire community and its ecosystems. Climate Change is causing the melting of the polar ice caps. This is causing animals that live in those conditions to starve and lose their homes.

Inequality to Education
We the future
The educational system in America is severely troubled by inequality. There are notable differences in educational results between various student groups. African American and Hispanic students, for instance, have higher dropout rates than white students. Additionally, students from low-income homes are less likely to attend college and are more likely to have lower test scores. The capacity of a pupil to achieve in school and in life may be substantially impacted by this imbalance.

Homeless in our community (Turlock)
Holden B Humanities Final
One main problem inside of our community in Turlock, California, is the prevalence of homelessness in our community parks and roadsides. This issue has been going around for many years, and recently has been increasing exponentially. In reference to the prevalence in our community parks, the homeless population poses as a serious issue to our younger members. It can often become an unsafe situation for children to hang around our parks in fear of something possibly happening to them. Another issue regarding homeless around our community is the amount of waste that is thrown onto the roadsides and other areas of the town. This problem occurs very often and disrupts the community image.

Can't we all just get along?
Caring Capybaras
A major divide across American which can be attributed to the severe divide between the strong held beliefs and morals of both political parties. Their hostility against one another is very apparent with the lack of understating to others' different views on various aspects of the world. Political attributes, ethnicity, gender, education levels and age are some of the many factors contributing to such division.

Can't We All Just Get Along?
Caring Capybaras
A major divide across America specifically has arose and can be attributed to the extreme beliefs and morals held by both separate political parties. Their hostility against one another is very apparent with the lack of understanding to others' different views on various aspects of the world currently. Political attitudes, ethnicity, gender, education levels, and age are each factors contributing to such division and this must lessen.

Lack of Access to Fresh Produce in Low-Income Communities
R.I.C.
Our problem statement is: How do we increase accessibility to fresh produce in low-income communities in Stockton by 10 fresh produce-based meals per week in 1 academic year? We wish to provide ways for low-income communities to gain better and more ready access to fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs, amongst other produce.

Health Care
Movement
Many people get denied health care insurance due to their race, gender, education, income, disability, sexual orientation, etc. People are limited to what health care treatment they can receive. Many people have no income, do not have the money for insurance, and struggle out of pocket to pay for treatment.

Rise of Homelessness in Stanislaus
The Six Sinisters
To combat the increasing rate of homelessness in California, we must first begin to direct the homeless in our county, Stanislaus, towards local avenues of assistance. This assistance can vary from directing them towards affordable housing, to specific services provided to them. In 2020, there were reported to be 161,548 Californians that faced homelessness, 51,785 of which were experiencing chronic homelessness. And in 2021, Stanislaus Country experienced a record high homeless population with 2,927. As you can see, there is a major homelessness epidemic both in our state and local county, and although our politicians are doing what they can to address this issue, they are not doing enough to execute a long-lasting solution.

Climate Change Filling In The Gap
Team Aridity
People do not; because they know not. In summary, as the community understands how their footprint impacts the climate of the world for better or for worse they are more likely to make changes that will impact and make a positive change for climate control.

Lack of Drought Mitigation Causing Forest Fires
Smokey Sidekicks
California has been experiencing wildfires, drought, and poor air quality for several years, but in recent years these problems have gotten increasingly worse. In the last 10 years, California has broken its own historical records of driest years on record and longest drought recorded. Drought contributes to dry weather and a favorable climate for wildfires, making them easier to start and harder to contain due to size. In turn, the fires contribute to air quality, causing a cycle of drought to fire to poor air quality which repeats and exacerbates all problems.

Drugs invading our youth
Donut Call List
Drugs are becoming dangerously available in our community. There are not enough awareness programs in schools to expose our youth to the dangers of addiction. Responsiveness can show and encourage children how to live a drug-free lifestyle. It’s significant for schools to participate because they socialize our youth to become productive members of society. Children are the future; I think it’s imperative to guide them away from addiction at the initial stages of discovery.
